Over 100 people travelled to the Village Underground on Saturday 6th February to take part in our first ever ‘Urban Movement’ fitness event. Urban Movement saw participants sweat through a 70-minute workout class consisting of six different exercise classes, including: Yoga, Pilates, Capoeira, Boxing, Twerking and HIIT!

KAREN BUTLER

Karen was first introduced to Yoga early in 2009 practising Bikram and Ashtanga. In early 2011 she decided to pass on this wonderful experience to others, undertaking the Bikram Yoga Training Course in Los Angeles.

Since then Karen had broadened her yoga horizons and dedicated her practice to Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga, completing a course in India.

I teach Twerk as something that happens from the inside out. We all have a Twerk in us, and I'm here to help people discover it!

Imbued by the fluidity and freedom of movement, which is central to the Pilates Method, Antonia found clear parallels between Classical Pilates and her background as a professional dancer. Antonia’s classes are playful and energetic, focusing on form and technique and following a well-established structure that deviates slightly from week to week. A certified instructor (Level 3), Antonia’s Pilates skills were honed by Martin and Heather Sampson of the prestigious Sampson Pilates where she specialised in rehabilitation, Equipment and Mat Work.

Edgar, known as Prof Bombril is a world renown capoeira with over 20years experience. He travels regularly to Brazil to train with numerous capoeira masters and regularly travels abroad to teach capoeira workshops at international events. Furthermore Prof. Bombril has won various medals and is currently European Champion and has been the coach for both European & World Champions. 
 
In the capoeira slot, you will learn some of the basic capoeira moves that will get your heart racing, your muscles supple and strong whilst having fun in the process!

Fitness has always played a huge role in my life but it all started from boxing at the age of 8 then competed when I was 15 and dedicated myself to the sport. Once reaching 47 bouts I decided to retire from boxing and start my career as a personal trainer, class instructor and boxing coach. 
 

WHERE IS IT?

The Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3PQ. This is between Great Eastern Street and Shoreditch High Street.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

By Underground: Shoreditch High Street Station is a 5-minute walk, Old Street Station is a 10-minute walk, Liverpool Street Station is a 10-minute walk. Use TFL to plan your route.

By Bus: The venue is on major bus routes 8, N8, 26, N26, 48, 78, 149 (24H), 242 (24H), 388, 35, N35, 47, 135 and 67.

By Car: There is one daytime car park near Village Underground and it is located just next to 55 Holywell Lane. However please check Hackney Council’s website for more information on parking nearby.

WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO ARRIVE?

You are welcome to join us from 9:00 am. Doors will close at 9:45 am sharp.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR AND BRING?

There is a free cloakroom for coats and bags. Please come workout ready as there are no changing rooms.

What should I not bring? We have a yoga mat for everyone so there is no need to bring one, if you have selected the yoga mat ticket, you get to keep yours!

I CAN NO LONGER COME, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Let us know, and we will offer your ticket to a lucky person on the waiting list. As all proceeds are going to charity, the tickets are non-refundable.
